For whom?

The module is addressed to therapists who have completed the first level of basic EMDR training.

About the module

In this module, we will address key decision points that arise during the conclusion of individual therapy sessions, the treatment discontinuation phase, and reassessment of treatment progress. Participants will learn how to effectively assess whether treatment goals are being achieved and how to recognize signs of unresolved issues that may require further work. We will explore how to determine when treatment discontinuation is clinically appropriate and how to assess ongoing progress in symptom reduction, relational skills, emotional regulation, and adaptive functioning.

Particular attention will be paid to the importance of ending each session intentionally. Clinicians will learn how to implement termination strategies that support children and adolescents in returning to a state of homeostasis and regulation, regardless of their individual nervous system tendencies. These strategies will help young clients consolidate progress, restore a sense of security, and return to daily life with greater stability and resilience. Furthermore, the module will cover how to adjust treatment plans when progress is limited or when results are not as expected. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining a collaborative relationship with the client or child-caregiver dyad, respecting the therapeutic process and ensuring continuity of care or referral to a specialist when necessary.

Oferta szkoleniowa skierowana jest również do psychologów oświaty i obejmuje obszary związane z doskonaleniem kompetencji zawodowych, w szczególności w zakresie pracy psychologicznej z dziećmi, młodzieżą i ich rodzinami.

After completing the module, participants will be able to (7 points)
  1. Identify key decision points related to the completion of individual sessions and the end of treatment.
  2. Assess treatment progress using clinical indicators of emotional, relational, and functional improvement.
  3. Use end-of-session strategies that promote regulation and homeostasis in children and adolescents with diverse neurological profiles.
  4. Recognize signs of unresolved issues and determine when additional processing is necessary.
  5. Revise or adjust your treatment plan when you are not achieving the desired results.
  6. Collaborate with clients and caregivers during closure and reassessment to ensure an ethical and developmentally appropriate end to treatment.
  7. Integrate closure and reappraisal strategies into a phase-oriented and trauma-informed treatment model.

💬 The module will conclude with a 60-minute discussion with Ana Gomez.
Those interested in asking a question during the last meeting are kindly requested to send it to szkolenia.emdr@gmail.com by 31/10/2026 in order to organize it substantively.
